Grade 5 - PYP Exhibition
This is the most challenging and at the same time the most rewarding period of the school year. This is the time in which I see the classroom truly transforming into an art studio with students popping in for extra time in their projects. The art room becomes the messiest you'll ever see, the tables are rearranged, the carpet is temporarily removed, large plastic sheets cover the tables and there are all sizes of cardboard, plastic packaging, wires, and plaster scattered around.
This year, environmental issues were once again predominant in the students' choices of topics. It is understandable that students find connections with these problems and want to take action.
During the PYPX journey, I feel that one of my main roles is to pose questions that provoke students' critical thinking and steer them away from common places. More than the final pieces, the most important is to see the students showcasing transdisciplinary skills, negotiating ideas, collaborating, organizing, and managing the progress of their work.
